Biographie de : Abdelaziz Stati

Abdelaziz Al Arbaoui (العرباويعبدالعزيز) est appelé Abdelaziz Stati à cause du sixième petit doigt que comporte l’une de ses mains. Ce chanteur marocain de chaâbi marocain est né en 1961 à El Jadida. Berger durant son enfance, c’est maintenant un spécialiste de la kamanja qui est un violon avec archet et une caisse de résonance aplatie en forme de huit.

Stati est une vrai pop-star dans les campagnes marocaines où il est un symbole de la fête et de la joie. Les gens aisés l’invitent pour chanter dans les mariages. Il interprète de nombreuses chansons, liées à la Ghourba (l’éloignement, en référence aux Marocains qui résident à l’étranger), lui ont porté notamment un succès jusqu’en Europe, où le chanteur se produit régulièrement en concert, le dernier fut celui de Festival Mawazine 2009 qui a connu une grande bousculade, causant la mort de 11 personnes, et la blessure d’une quarantaine d’autres spectateurs sur les 70 000 présents ce soir là[2].
